About the Greenway
The Ohlone Greenway runs approximately 1 mile from Brighton to almost Gilman. The park has a bike and walking path and an old exercise course. This past 4th of July the Ohlone Greenway was the running course of the City of ALbany's 4th of July Dog Jog. We encourage you to get out and discover the Ohlone Greenway!

History
The Ohlone Greenway was first used by the Santa Fe railroad in 1904. In 1936 the Bay Bridge was opened and a decline in freight traffic caused the line to move its freight traffic to the Southern Pacific in 1978. In 1979 the railway gave the land to the cities it ran through.

During this time, BART officially broke ground in 1964. The Fremont line opened in 1972 and the Richmond line opened in 1973 after a delay by the Berkeley voters who decided to tax themselves to put the line underground. The transbay tube opened in 1974. In Albany, the BART tracks parallel the Santa Fe right-of-way and a linear park call the Ohlone Greenway.
