The City’s secondary logo introduced with the recent launch of the new City website is an artistic interpretation of the Goldenaster thoughtfully designed to reflect Albany’s uniqueness. The flower’s simplicity and natural beauty echo the City’s close relationship with nature and its sense of community. Each of the 14 petals represents one of Albany’s 14 distinct and diverse neighborhoods, symbolizing unity within the City’s 1.7 square miles. The logo embodies the City’s diversity, growth, and resilience—much like the native wildflower that thrives on Albany Hill.

The Bolander’s Goldenaster (Heterotheca sessiliflora ssp. bolanderi) is a native perennial herb that flourishes on the slopes of Albany Hill, a beloved and unique visual landmark in the City. Albany Hill, with its rich biodiversity, is home to an array of native wildflowers and trees, representing the City’s commitment to preserving its natural environment and honoring its local heritage.

This secondary logo complements the City seal, offering a modern and flexible symbol that captures Albany’s spirit, blending tradition with innovation, and celebrating both its natural landscapes and vibrant community.
