Subsidy Program

Financial subsidies are available for Friendship Camps, the Junior Counselor Program and the Friendship Club Afterschool Program. Subsidy participants must live in Albany and demonstrate income eligibility. 

The Friendship Subsidy Program does not apply to City of Albany contract classes or camps.

  • YOU MUST BE APPROVED FOR THE SUBSIDY PRIOR TO ENROLLING. UPON APPROVAL YOU WILL RECIEVE A SUBSIDY CODE TO USE WHEN REGISTERING FOR PROGRAMS. 
  • Please submit the completed application and the required documentation to kmiller@albanyca.org or in person at the Albany Community Center, 1249 Marin Avenue, Albany CA 94706.
Friendship Club Afterschool Program

  • Once approved, you will be notified by email and the subsidy discount will be applied to your monthly tuition bill. 
Required documentation includes:
  • Most recent federal tax return. If the applicant does not file a tax return, an alternate means to document income will be required. Please contact kmiller@albanyca.org for assistance.
  • Utility bill with name and Albany address clearly indicated (from within the last two months). The first page of a bank statement or lease agreement can be used as an alternative.
  • All information will be kept confidential. You may black out any personal identifying information such as social security and bank account numbers.

Eligibility

Documentation of Albany address and income are required to apply for the Friendship Subsidy Program. Returning families may be able to complete an abbreviated application process.

Income eligibility limits are based on the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Fiscal Year 2024 Income Limits for Alameda County.

Returning Applicants

Families can re-apply for the Friendship Subsidy Program.

If you were already approved for a subsidy in 2025 for any of the Friendship Programs you will not need to submit documentation of your address or income again. Please only submit the application page.  

Subsidy Rates

Friendship Camps and Junior Counselor Program
  • Once approved for the subsidy, families will receive a 50% coupon code to be applied at the time of registration. 
  • Eligible families can receive 50% off for each participating child. The subsidy can also be utilized for Extended Care. 
  • Families will not receive retroactive subsidies or refunds. Please apply before registering to obtain the coupon code.
  • Please allow up to two days for processing your application. 
Friendship Club Afterschool Program 
  • The subsidy amount will be determined based on total income and household size. Families will receive a discount off each monthly tuition bill.
  • Eligible families can receive a subsidy for each participating child.
