Block Parties

Host a block party and get to know the people who live around you! It’s a great way to connect with neighbors, build friendships, and create a sense of community. When neighbors interact and form bonds, it helps foster a safer and more supportive environment for everyone. So gather your neighbors, share some food, and make your neighborhood an even better place to live!

Block Party Application:
  1. Complete and submit an application along with a petition.
  2. Petitions need to have 50% of your neighborhoods blocks signatures.
  3. Staff will review your request within 4 business days of receiving.
  4. After approval, staff will contact you for payment.
  5. Fee: $82.93
  6. Disaster Preparedness Training - do you and your neighbors know what to do in the event of a disaster? Invite the Albany Fire Department to your event to perform a disaster preparedness training and receive a 50% discount on the application/barricade fee. Trainings are subject to availability.

Block Party Event Details:
  1. Block Parties will be provided with barricades and road closure signs.
  2. Street closures may begin at the time specified and approved on block party application.
  3. Barricades and signs will be delivered to your street by 5 PM on the Friday before your event and will be picked up by Noon on the Monday following the event.
  4. Block party organizers are required to keep a lane open on the street during the event to ensure emergency vehicles can pass through if needed.
  5. Bounce Houses need to be placed on private property (e.g. front lawn or driveway) to allow street access for emergency vehicles.
  6. Some streets can not have block parties due to safety and traffic considerations.
