Who do I contact about a dead animal?

The Albany Police Department contracts with the City of Berkeley Animal Control Services, in the Berkeley office of special community services. Animal services provides field services for the cities of Berkeley and Albany and shelters animals from Berkeley, Albany, Piedmont, and Emeryville.

Field services are provided seven days a week (holidays included) and consist of removing wild life from traps, investigating complaints, investigating dog bites, quarantining animals, picking up confined strays, issuing citations, patrolling parks and other areas, court appearances, giving advice and information, removing dead animals, and other types of calls from citizens.

Report Graffiti on Public Property

Public Works can remove graffiti on public property. Please include location and picture if possible.

Report Illegal Dumping

Please let us know if you see items dumped on public property. Please attach a picture if possible and include the location and description of the item.

Report a Landscape Maintenance Issue

Please let us know if you see overgrown weeds, plants, etc. on public property.

Report damaged playground or park equipment

Let us know if you see damaged playground or other equipment in one of our city parks. Include exact location and a picture if possible.

Report Sanitary Sewer Overflows

Please include exact location. If discovered after 5 pm (M-F) or on a weekend please call the Police Non-Emergency phone number (510) 525-7300.

Request Sidewalk Inspection (Transfers/Remodels)

A sidewalk certificate of compliance or time extension is required at the time of any property transfer in the City of Albany. Certain remodels will also trigger the need for a certificate of compliance.

Report a Broken Sprinkler

Let us know if you see a broken sprinkler or one that is out of adjustment on public property (for example: watering the cement). Include the exact location and a picture if possible.

Report a Sprinkler that is on after 9 am

Please report sprinklers that are running past 9 am. Our watering schedule is usually over night and completed by 9 am. Include exact location.

Report a Damaged Street Light (Traffic Signal)

Please let us know if see a damaged Street Light (Traffic Signal). Please include exact location.

Report a Safety Light not working

Please let us know if you see a Safety Light that is out. If possible please include the number listed on the light pole-this helps give us the exact location.

Report a Tennis Court of Park light that is not working

Please include the location and park where the light is located.

Report Street Light (Traffic Signal) that is not working

Let us know if you see a traffic signal that has a fluttering light or if the light is not working. Please provide the exact location.
