Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

The City of Albany Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is the facility where City staff coordinate response and recovery efforts during major emergencies, disasters, or significant planned events. When activated, the EOC brings together key personnel and partner agencies to manage the situation, support field operations, and ensure continuity of essential City functions.

Purpose & Role

The EOC supports emergency operations by organizing information, managing resources, and guiding decision-making. It helps maintain public safety, protect infrastructure, and communicate vital updates to the community during an emergency.

When Is the EOC Activated?

The EOC may be activated under several conditions, including:

  • Situations outlined in the City of Albany Emergency Operations Plan (EOP)

Guided by the Emergency Operations Plan

The EOC operates in accordance with the City of Albany Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), which outlines emergency protocols, roles, and responsibilities. The plan aligns with the Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS) and the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to ensure effective coordination with Alameda County, the State of California, and federal agencies.
