In preparation for development of a new Active Transportation Plan, staff prepared a slide presentation of projects completed since the last plan was initially adopted in 2012. Click through the presentation below to see a map of projects completed by year.
BACKGROUND
2012 Albany Active Transportation Plan
The City of Albany was awarded $130,000 from the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) for the development of the City's first Pedestrian Master Plan and the Update to the City Bicycle Master Plan.
The consulting firm of Fehr and Peers developed the plan, the process lasted approximately 15 months. The plan, known as the Albany Active Transportation Plan or ATP was approved in April 2012.
The Albany ATP and Initial Study Mitigated Negative Declaration was adopted in April 2012 and amended on November 17, 2014 and again on September 16, 2019. The 2014 amendment includes the addition of Spokane Avenue as a bicycle boulevard and a goal that supports implementation of separated bicycle facilities on San Pablo Avenue. The 2019 amendment includes the addition of approved designs for the Adams Street and Kains Avenue bicycling route projects.
Plan documents are available on the Transportation Documents and Maps page.
